Made in New York

Hey Y'all,
I work at the Mayor's Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting and am very proud of all we have accomplished. Every year that we celebrate individuals in our industry, I am not only celebrating for them but also for my City. New York is the only City I know who is referred to as a person. People always say "having New York in our film is having a celebrity talent that people can't wait to see." or "What do you think of NY? I think she's great!".
The Made in New York Awards were presented on Monday June 4, 2012 at Gracie Mansion. Now in its seventh year, the event is bigger than ever and the honorees are some of the greatest actors working today. I think you guys will get a kick out of the Honorees speeches. A special appearance from Ben and Amy Stiller to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to their parents Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara.

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver presented the seventh annual “Made in NY” Awards, honoring individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to various fields in the City’s entertainment and digital media industries. The 2012 “Made in NY” honorees include: Academy Award-winning actor, director, producer Robert De Niro; Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep; Academy Award, Emmy, Tony and Grammy winner Whoopi Goldberg; Emmy-winning actress and television host Kelly Ripa; award-winning media company @radical.media, which develops, produces and distributes innovative content across all forms of media; and New York City-based Kickstarter, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. This year’s “Made in NY” Mayor’s Award for Lifetime Achievement was presented to actors and legendary husband-and-wife comedy team Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. As part of the ceremony, Raven-SymonĂ© and the cast of the Broadway musical Sister Act performed at the event at Gracie Mansion. The musical, which received five Tony Award nominations, features an original score by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater and is currently playing at the Broadway Theatre.  - Press release from OFTB.

The Made in New York logo is my favorite and it's not just cause I work there. I am very proud to be born and raised in a City where so many want to live and strive in. The City that never sleeps and where dreams are made. I can't imagine living anywhere else.

The event was a great turn out, guest appearances include Joan Rivers and Harvey Keitel. Delicious food spreads were set up all through out the tent. The weather held out which was great considering our event takes place in the back of Gracie under a tent. The view of the Triboro (RFK) and Hell Gate Bridge is amazing.

These awards are just another way of viewing how special and beautiful My City is!
