Costa Rica meet Margarita!

Hey Ya'll,
I spent my birthday in Guanacaste, Costa Rica and I fell in love. I stayed at the RIU on the Pacific side with beautiful black sand and schools of fish passing near your legs in the ocean. The hotel offered live entertainment from karaoke to dance competitions. The pool area was huge and offered daily activities.

The people there were nice and welcoming, especially my tour guides. By the end of the tour I felt like we were all family. I toured with Costa Rica Bestrips; they offer private tours only. I picked the Borinquen Combo Canopy package which included:
-Round trip transportation
-Bilingual Tour Guides
-Drinks
-Horseback riding
-10 cables of zip line
-Lunch with a beautiful view of the Forest
-Steam Sauna from a Volcano
-Volcanic mud bath
-Hot Springs
-Taxes
-and Great conversation with a history lesson on Costa Rica.

The tour began with the sauna house, which was hot! I couldn't keep my feet on the wooden floor for long. It opened my pores allowing the toxins to release and made me feel rejuvenated. I sat there for about 20mins before continuing on to my mud bath.

I've done mud baths before, only a little different from this one. The mud was in a large vat where individuals can rub the mud onto their skin. Mud helps to alleviate aches and muscle pains which I have a lot of; not to mention it is great for your skin!

After soaking in the mud bath and taking funny pictures with the mud on, it was time to wash it all off and soak in the hot springs. Borinquen has 3 pods with spring waters at different temperatures. The first was extremely hot but amazing, I felt my muscles and ligaments relaxing, releasing any tension I had. The second one was warm and soothing, but the third pod was freezing! It took me five minutes to get in there and I needed to jump in because it was arctic cold. It was a complete shock to my body which helps constrict your blood vessels and bring down any swelling you may have.

After lunch, we headed to the stables. I believe that the horse they pick for you is the horse that is meant for you. It's just something that happens naturally, to me anyway. This horse was stubborn but strong (hmmm sounds like someone I know). It was no coincidence I needed to pee once we began the trail and my horse stopped and began relieving himself. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky!

The view was spectacular; I love being surrounded by nature. It's something New Yorkers don't have a chance to see often unless we go to Central Park.
The trail ended at the top of a mountain where the zip line began. The lines are 500 ft high, making the view over the forest breathtaking and creating a huge surge of adrenaline for me. Some of the lines were faster than the others but overall it was a great experience. I was asked to perform a trick called the "Super Woman," which I attempted. I'll say this: it's pretty racy so there won't be any footage of it!

Costa Rica was great, I wish I had more time there, it was such a pretty place to visit.
If you're looking for a personal tour experience, Bestrips is the way to go.
